REGISTRATION FOR WINTER 2022 BEGINS NOVEMBER 1ST!

CLASSES BEGIN THE WEEK OF JANUARY 10 AND RUN THROUGH THE WEEK OF APRIL 30!

Dance Class Dress Code

Ballet 1

Students will work on flexibility, full barre work, and full center work. They will also work on their technique
and be expected to retain steps and combinations. They will understand vocabulary, focusing on turnout
and body alignment.

Dress Code: Black-cherry Leotard (ordered from Trilogy), Ballet Pink tights, Pink split sole ballet shoes, Class Tutu (ordered from Trilogy)

Ballet students enrolled in the Winter Semester will perform in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Students will pay a production fee of $175 that covers all cost of their performance, costume rentals and rehearsals. Auditions for lead roles will be January 29, with most rehearsals in class. Dress rehearsals are May 9-12, and performances are May 13-15, 2022.

Students are eligible to audition for our main stage musical, Seussical! Auditions are January 14th and the show performs April 7-10, 2022. Visit our AUDITIONS page for more information.

This level of training is designed for students who want to advance their studies and advance their pointe work. The traditional ballet class format of barre followed by center exercise is used. Correct placement and turnout continue to be emphasized. Please be sure to enroll in each of the three classes needed for Ballet IV as they are listed separately on the Studio Director.

Broadway Tap and Jazz 1

This Tap and Jazz class focuses on proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions and combinations. This class focuses on proper technical execution of various turns, leaps and kicks, including more complex combinations across the floor. As students progress through each level, curriculum will increase in complexity and intricacy. Students are highly recommended to take ballet concurrently.

Students will perform in a showcase for friends and family on May 7th.

The modern class will be a basic class based on the Lester Horton technique. It will help students learn greater awareness of their body alignment and develop core strength. This is a very technical method that will help students grow in their understanding of movement, balance, and strength.

Broadway Tap Intermediate/Advanced

Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style, and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. Emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. As students progress through each level, the curriculum will increase in complexity and intricacy.

Acro Contortions & Tumbling

This class will continue to introduce new movements while building on the fundamentals of strength and flexibility. The focus will be on extending students’ stamina to hold through poses, tricks, and multiple movements with fluidity.

Pointe and Prepointe Class
This class is dedicated to teaching pointe fundamentals to students of the appropriate age and technical ability. Because of the risk of injury, students must be physically ready so one complete dance year of pre-pointe and a pointe evaluation is required before advancement top pointe class. The pointe evaluation allows teachers and students the opportunity to see where the student needs work in order to prepare for pointe. The evaluation focuses on legs (straightness and strength), feet (flexibility, strength, alignment, and shape) ankles (strength and straightness), and overall body alignment.

Men’s Ballet with Strength Training
This class is dedicated to teaching men’s ballet fundamentals to students of the appropriate age and technical ability. Strength training is an important part of a male ballet student’s learning. Students should also be in the correct ballet level for their skills.
