Dance Class Dress Code

Ballet I

Tuesdays 5-6pm

Ages 7+

In Ballet Level I, students will engage in exercises to enhance flexibility, strength, and conditioning. The curriculum includes comprehensive barre work, center work, and emphasizes classical technique with a focus on turn out and body alignment. Students will be challenged to memorize and execute dance steps and combinations while gaining understanding of ballet terminology.

 

Ballet students are encouraged to audition for our dance/cirque show Alice in Wonderland (auditions Feb 6, shows May 10-12), as well as our musical theatre productions of The Sound of Music (auditions Jan 19, callbacks Jan 20, shows March 21-24) and Beauty and the Beast (auditions Feb 16, callbacks Feb 17, shows April 18-21).

Light Blue Leotard*, Ballet Pink tights, Pink split-sole ballet shoes, Class Tutu*

Ballet II

Tuesdays 5-6pm and Thursdays 5-6:30pm

(Students must enroll and attend BOTH classes)

Ages 7+

In Ballet II, students will concentrate on enhancing flexibility, strength, and conditioning through comprehensive exercises, including full barre work, center work, adagio, and progressions. The primary emphasis is on refining classical technique, incorporating turn out and maintaining proper body alignment. Students are expected to memorize and execute dance steps and combinations while gaining proficiency in ballet terminology. To ensure a thorough learning experience, Ballet II students must enroll in and attend both Ballet II classes each week.

 

Ballet students are encouraged to audition for our dance/cirque show Alice in Wonderland (auditions Feb 3, shows May 10-12), or our musical theatre productions of The Sound of Music (auditions Jan 19, callbacks Jan 20, shows March 21-24) and Beauty and the Beast (auditions Feb 16, callbacks Feb 17, shows April 18-21)

Ballet III

Tuesdays 6-7:30pm, Thursdays 5-6:30pm, and Saturdays 9-10:30am

(Students must enroll and attend all three classes)

Ages 10+

In Ballet III, students will dedicate their efforts to enhancing flexibility, strength, and conditioning through a comprehensive regimen encompassing full barre work, center work, adagio, and progressions. The primary emphasis is on refining proper classical technique, with students expected to retain dance steps and combinations while making strides in strength and stamina. Additionally, they will deepen their understanding of ballet terminology. To ensure substantial progress, Ballet III students are required to enroll in and actively participate in three classes per week.

Ballet students are encouraged to audition for our dance/cirque show Alice in Wonderland (auditions Feb 3, shows May 10-12), or our musical theatre productions of The Sound of Music (auditions Jan 19, callbacks Jan 20, shows March 21-24) and Beauty and the Beast (auditions Feb 16, callbacks Feb 17, shows April 18-21).

Ballet IV

Tuesdays 6-7:30pm, Thursdays 5-6:30pm, Saturdays 9-10:30am

(Students must enroll and attend all three classes)

Ages 12+

Tailored for our most advanced students, Ballet IV emphasizes flexibility, strength, and conditioning through a comprehensive program encompassing full barre work, center work, adagio, petite and grande allegro. The primary focus remains on refining proper classical technique, with an expectation for students to memorize and execute intricate steps and combinations. A deepened understanding of ballet terminology is also part of the curriculum. This class additionally provides training that enhances the development of ballerinas who are training en pointe. To maximize progress, Ballet IV students are required to enroll in and actively participate in three classes per week.

Pre Pointe/Pointe Class

Tuesdays 7:30-8:30pm

By Instructor Evaluation

This class is exclusively focused on instructing pointe fundamentals to students with the suitable age and technical proficiency. Enrollment in pre-pointe/pointe is by invitation only and is at the teacher's discretion, based on the dancer's evaluation in ballet classes. Dancers commencing their pointe training will initially be designated as "pre-pointe" students until the teacher grants permission for them to transition to full pointe work.

Dress Code:

Students will wear their correct class level uniform

Tap and Jazz Combo Class

Tuesdays 7-8:30pm

Ages 8+

This 90-minute combination class is designed for beginner and intermediate students, featuring both Tap and Jazz. The tap segment focuses on fundamental tap dancing techniques, covering all essential building blocks. In the jazz portion, ballet technique serves as the foundation, layered with traditional jazz movement. The curriculum includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations, encompassing turns and leaps. As students advance through the levels, the curriculum evolves in complexity and intricacy. Students are highly recommended to take ballet concurrently.

 

Students may audition for our dance/cirque show Alice in Wonderland, or our musical theatre productions of The Sound of Music (auditions Jan 19, callbacks Jan 20, shows March 21-24) and Beauty and the Beast (auditions Feb 16, callbacks Feb 17, shows April 18-21). Students will also perform in an end of semester showcase!

Modern/Contemporary/Lyrical

Thursdays 6:30-7:30pm

Ages 8+

This class delves into the widely embraced genres of Modern, Contemporary, and Lyrical, integrating ballet and jazz techniques. It aims to heighten students' awareness of body alignment and cultivate core strength. The primary emphasis is on enhancing flexibility and sustaining movements, with a thorough focus on teaching the intricate connection between music and movement, fostering emotional and expressive depth. Enrolling in this class promises a significant enhancement of artistic expression for dancers.

Students are encouraged to audition for our dance/cirque show Alice in Wonderland (auditions Feb 3, shows May 10-12), or our musical theatre productions of The Sound of Music (auditions Jan 19, callbacks Jan 20, shows March 21-24) and Beauty and the Beast (auditions Feb 16, callbacks Feb 17, shows April 18-21)

Intermediate/Advanced Tap

Thursdays 7:30-8:30pm

Ages 11+

Designed for advanced students, this Tap class is tailored for those who have mastered the foundational steps crucial for all tap dance levels and styles. The syllabus covers a range of tap styles, including Classical, Rhythm, Broadway, and Funk. Students will receive training in precise tap technique, intricate rhythms, and combinations, with a dedicated emphasis on developing agility, stamina, and musicality.

Ballet students are encouraged to audition for our dance/cirque show Alice in Wonderland (auditions Feb 3, shows May 10-12), or our musical theatre productions of The Sound of Music (auditions Jan 19, callbacks Jan 20, shows March 21-24) and Beauty and the Beast (auditions Feb 16, callbacks Feb 17, shows April 18-21).

All students will also perform in an end of semester showcase!

Intermediate/Advanced Jazz

Thursdays 8:30-9:30pm

Ages 11+

The Jazz class places emphasis on precise dance technique, incorporating body isolations, enhancing performance quality, and mastering intricate rhythms and patterns. This curriculum integrates traditional and stylistic jazz movement, encompassing essential elements like warm-up, flexibility and conditioning exercises, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Concurrent enrollment in ballet is highly recommended for students in this class.
